White Pass & Yukon derailment caused by broken switch
3 cars derailed they left one car for pulling the cars back.
2 guys jumped into the water were riding on the platform on the second car
I saw the rod broken from the switch stand to the switch about 1and 1/4 inch in size

The cause was no distance signal to give the switch position as required for facing points in passenger territory. Or have a rule for trains to stop and inspect the position of the points of the switch.
