White River acquires Carstens rail magazines

Glad to have your excellent publication back!

Will our R/R subscriptions be honored???

Wow!! I thought I was going to read Railroad Model Craftsman in the obituary section. However, I’ll miss Carstens. TY so much Carstens.

Whew! Thanks

It’s nice to finally know why I haven’t received any magazines recently

This is good. I’m glad R and R will go on. It will be interesting to see what changes that WR makes to R and R. I do occasionally get TRP which is a very good product, I think.

TODAY I RECEIVED MY JUNE ISSUE OF RAILFAN & RAILROAD. ON THE FRONT COVER IS THE PURPLE AND WHITE NKP 190. INSIDE IS A SPECIAL REPORT ON STREAMLINERS AT SPENCER.

I will subscribe again and support them. I hope others will too. We do not need to be down to only one railfan and model publisher.

Good to see White River Productions rescue these two fine magazines.

Great news! I trust I will receive the NKP Alco PA-cover June issue soon, and I hope WRP will publish a 40th anniversary issue in November since there would have been one. Thank you, Carstens staff and WRP!

Happy to see that they have a shot at survival. Like that they fill the long form niche and hope they make it.

Glad to see White River was able to purchase the magazines. They do a great job with Passenger Train Journal, so I expect Railfan and Railroad’s quality will improve.

They must have “deep pockets” at White River Productions. This is not the first time they have rescued publications. They revived Passenger Train Journal which had been moribund for several years. And they took over Model Railroad News just after it went under due to financial problems. It doesn’t seem to matter to them if the circulation of such magazines is low. Their publications look great - very slick and professional.

Obviously White River sees potential in both Railfan and Railroad and Railroad Model Craftsman.

Best of luck with them White River, although considering how successful your other pubs are I don’t think much luck is going to be required!

Does anyone know if we can still get Carstens Books? I tried their toll free number this morning and it just rang and rang.
