Who has the most diversified locomotive fleet?

I would say CN does… and they seem to like unusual lashups too.

More Likely BNSF, GP35s, GP30s, GP28, GP50, GP60, Dash8-40Bs, various gensets and the like.

CN or BNSF.

The Illinois Rail Museum probably does…in all seriousness though, I’d agree with CN.

if you’re talkin locomotive make, probably BNSF. they have a really diversified EMD power list as well as a diversified GE roster. but if you’re talking paint schemes, CP is probably the one. They have engines painted in the two SOO schemes, ICE/DME, CP(obviously) and some MILW

For color schemes, I’d go with BNSF. They still have a lot of blue/yellow and red/silver Santa Fe locomotives. Also Cascade green and black, Grunstein green and cream as well as three different Heritage schemes. The other day, in Lindenwood Yard, I saw one of the Comrail blue units with BNSF on the side and looking freshly painted. I’ve also seen at least one of the old ones with enough of the Cascade green weathered off to show most of the Frisco colors.

I don’t see much of CN so I won’t argue, but the above is pretty varied.

UP is up there, with locomotives from five different builders: EMD, GE, MPI, NRE and Railpower.

I have to agree with CN.

For paint schemes, they have their basic paint scheme, the CN North America scheme, and the old zebra stripes, as well as units still in BCOL red, white, & blue and just plain blue paint, IC black, GT blue, WC marroon & gold, and EJ&E orange.

As for actual locomotives, they have quite the nice assortment, including SD60F, SD70, SD70I, SD75I, SD70M-2, Dash 8-40CM, Dash 8-40CW, Dash 9-44CW, ES44DC, GP38-2, SW-1500, SW7RM, GP9RM, and many more.

You never know what might show up when railfanning CN!
