About a month ago I posted seeing John Deere HO scale tractors at WalMart
REALLY cheap and that I was making flat car loads with them. The last Athern newsletter I got showed newer JD equipement on flat cars and now this from Round House! http://www.athearn.com/newsletter/080905/RND_DEERE_30_flat_080905.jpg
Now if I had a digital camera, I’d post the picks of the two flat car loads I built BEFORE ever hearing of Atherns and Round House!! They are EXACTLY the same.I feel jipped on the credit end of this!!![V]
i Give you credit loathar, I was looking at the JD stuff today but didnt buy them.
I’ve been planning on doing the same thing only with Ford 8Ns.
man you’ve been robbed !
what year are those tractors from ?
Unfortunately, if the Athearn equipment made it to Wal-Mart, it must
be that the quality was not all that to begin with. It is VERY common
to see stolen ideas down the road but we as consumers cannot lay
claim to new ideas because of copyrights and trademarks. I tried to
sell an idea to LEGOS about transforming toys, and all they did was
send me a thank you letter and a decline. TEN YEARS later, MY IDEA
was sitting on a toy shelf with no royalties. GO FIGURE.
The quality was acctually pretty darn good.
I just saw the Tractors at my local Walmart today, for 2.74 per. I picked one of the modern day tractors up to use in my feilds. It actually isn’t that bad for quality. The paint is good, the detail on the vents around the motor is good, and the cab detail is good too.

Noah- You can repaint them red or red primer too. Make them look more Massey Fergoson -ish. Watch dull coating the tires. They get really sticky and won’t dry. I just took them off and rolled them in some dirt to get the shine off. Walthers was selling the same exact ones for $5.95.
Loathar,
Have you ever seen the commercial about patent assistance?
Friend, " Wow, Loather you are going to make a mint with your invention!“. Loather, " Naw, I didn’t get a patent like I should have.” Announcer, " Protect your invention by calling BR…"
[(-D] REX [(-D]
Better not Loather!
MTH will take you to court saying they invented the JD tractor and they can prove it cause Mike has saved JD tractors in other scales and he’ll do the same for HO tractors!!!
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!![}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)]
Sorry, I couldn’t resist…[:-^][:-^][:-^]
I won’t tell you guys what I paid for an Athearn flat car with two John Deer tractors on it.[censored][:(!][B)][banghead][|(][sigh]
HO Scale stuff in Wal-Mart? Come on.
Perhaps Atlas will sell their new Trainman series of locomotives and cars there as well[B)][V]

loathar,You must be fairly new to the hobby…Loading flat cars with tractors is one of the oldest loads in the hobby…Tyco had a flat car with bulldozers on it.
So,you didn’t get gypped…Sorry,better luck next time.[;)][:D]
Brakie- No, as a matter of fact, been at this for 35 years. Never saw anyone sell tractors
on flat cars before. The flat cars I used ARE my old Tycos that I took the dozers and semis off of and gave real paint jobs to. I saw Tractor Supply had a bunch of small tractors and farm equipement too, But the scale isn’t marked and they look a little big for HO.
Ditto, except I didn’t try to sell the idea to Lego, I just was seeking to buy permission to use their name in the title of a book “Building Robots With Lego Technques”. Flat refusal. But go to a book store and see what you find there, but it isn’t the one I wrote.
