Saw a SD40 and a C36 I believe from TFM. There
were in the yard at Galesburg Illinois. Besides a
locomotive leaser does any one have any more info
on this company??
I have seen TFM on auto racks too. I think that TFM was the Mexican federal railway, since moved into private hands.
If TFM is the Mexican railway (I’m guessing full name is Tren Federal de Mexico), then it would make sense to see a lot of their Autoracks up here. A lot of American cars are made South of the border nowadays.
I think TFM is also the name on lots of autoracks we see up here in Milwaukee.

TFM is a Mexican railroad. TFM units are in interchange with the BNSF and have been all over including Memphis
TFM is 50% owned but KCS
TFM stands for Transporte Ferroviario Mejicano or Mexican Railways Transportation. I can usually see TFM autoracks here at Michigan on NS trains bound to Detroit’s auto factories. Both TFM and Mexico National (Nacional de Mejico) are the two giant RRs down there.
