Who made this?

This is advertised on Ebay as a product of NWSL. It is supposed to be a replacement chassis and motor for the GE 44 or 70 tonner locomotive. I can’t find it in NWSL catalog, however. Does anyone else know anything about this item? If it runs well, I would like to use this chassis/motor for a replacement on my 70 tonners. [:P]

The Ebay advertisement is here:

Thanks!

I suspect that this is the chassis that was made to fit the Keystone 44-ton model, but I might be wrong. I know they also did a 70-ton, but I’m not sure this is the same chassis as for the 44-ton. I do know that NWSL has a reputation for quality, so that does speak in favor of it.

Of course, with Ebay, the value is in the eye of the beholder.

It’s NWSL, it’s gonna run great. I believe the previous poster is correct, that’s for the Keystone Model Works 44-tonner. You might be able to get the Bachmann shell to work with some effort.

That was what I had in mind. I would like to get a Bachmann 70 tonner shell to fit over it. With NWSL’s quality, this chassis should run better than anything Bachmann had out for this model.

Does an updated chasis that would fit the original release Spectrum 44tonner exist? I have a pair of them that I would love to repower and install DCC in.

Same here they are really noisey

I’m pretty sure that’s a Keystone 44 tonner, I have have to 2 of them and they run beautiful (top speed about 30 smph). The only problem is there are no bottom gear covers. They can be made with thin styrene strip or make sure there’s no high ballast on your track. They’re scale wheels and there’s not much room and those gears will pick things up in them.
