Who owns me???

The “Crescent News” here in Defiance has quoted that rail crossings along 281 and 18 will be closed for repairs by ODOT and Norfolk Southern. My question is does NS own the former DT&I,GTW,Indiana & Ohio,CN? I know Ns gained trackage rights as part of an agreement between the Wabash and DT&I.I am just curious whose trains are hammering across CSX’s old B&O route through Hamler Ohio.Any help would be Appriciated.
thanks

NS doing the repairs that is strange. When I worked for NS we would sometimes take empty coke trains 868/869 to Diann, Mich and hand them off to I&O crews to get them to southern Ohio. I have been railfanning that area and have never seen a NS train except for the one I mentioned. I would really like to know what’s going on as that might lead me to do more railfanning down that way.

In the Conrail sale didn’t NS get that track as part of the deal?

Ns got the NYC mainline from Chicago to Cleveland Ohio.Csx got from Cleveland to NY.There is a former conrail line that ran through Toledo Findlay and Bowling green and points south. That went to Csx.Csx also has the former PRR route from lima oh to Ft Wayne Indiana. The line in question was originally Detroit toledo & ironton. Taken over by Grand trunk railways.Spun off to Indiana and ohio and then Bought by Canadien National.its hard to keep track sometimes.

The telephone number stencilled on the crossing protection for nearby crossings on the same line says to call who?

Road Trip [8D]
Matt and I went to check it out.The only phone number I found was for a CSX siding in Hamler.Checked the county roads between st rts 18 and 281.No numbers on any of the crossings. Some look new with gates installed though.

CSX also places a small 4x6 laminated fiberglass tags (Blue lettering on white background) on crossbucks and Crossing signal masts, usually near the bottom with the crisis phone number and the DOT #)…the NS number boards were larger to the point of being obnoxious.

I remember reading the article and I know it is an error. RailAmerica/Indiana & Ohio own the former DT&I.

Joe:

Just for grins, checked out the DOT records at Hamler. The North-south line is IORY, last updated in June (Checked Hubbard Street/ Co Rd E, DOT 258 551Y)…The east west line is CSX, last updated in January (Checked Main Street, DOT 142 313X). was going to use Marion Street, but then see it crosses both railroads…

No, no, no, no talking about crossings …you’ll awaken that thing

First of all thanks for the information.I thought that there were talks of the Iory going to CN.I know for sure about the east-west lines being(old B&O)Csx.The Crescent news has been guilty here lately about getting things wrong.maybe its time to call my fifth grade basketball coach(now newspaper boss)[:I]
