My wife has a fair collection of Post War Lionel of her own that she has
had since childhood. Our granddaughter is wild about our trains and
layouts! When she gets a little older she, too, will get her own train!

I hope you get to the Fairhope model train show this weekend (March 20-21). If you do, watch the children of all ages as they look at the trains. Often the moms are even more interested than the kids, or the dads. A high point each year are the visits by the outgoing and the incoming Dogwood Trail Courts, each with five high school girls decked out in pastel-colored antebellum style costumes like the Azalea Trail Court in Mobile. A couple of years ago we had a TMCC controlled floor layout and these young ladies had a ball controlling a train. We even have miniature models of three of them on our SWARM O-gauge layout waiting at the depot on incoming passengers.

My 6 yr old daughter is crazy about her O gauge trains[:p] and my 30 something year old wife is crazy about her n gauge that she took [B)]([#oops] inherited[banghead]) from me now that I’ve switched to O gauge![bow][bow][bow]

I too have girls who love trains. My five year old and now the one year old. I’m not sure the baby like the trains or the fact that she can now crawl up the attic stairs. My 5 year old has the MTH Sponge Bob train on her Christmas list.[:o)]
My girls did not car much for them. Just my son does. Guess that if there are Grandgirls, they will as they will spend time with me. That and they will fish a lot.

Well, my mom loves trains. Her an her twin sister would often play with my uncle’s Scout set (when he wasn’t around of course) when they were kids and thought it was the greatest thing. My mom often sees my old postwar pieces and wishes that she would have known more about what was made at that time and had some of them when she was young.
When I attended the Calgary model train show in February there were two young teenage girls who were exhibiting a Hornby OO gauge Thomas layout.
My French teacher (who’s a woman) has heard about my trains and wants to bring the class over to see them sometime. I live right next door to the school, so this wouldn’t be difficult to do. The entire grade 10/11/12 French class consists of only 8 students including myself and there’s only one other guy besides me, the rest are all girls. I wonder what they’ll think of my trains?

I have three daughters. The youngest is ALWAYS playing with her LIONEL C&O Freight set(up-graded to FasTrack) on the floor. She even likes train shows, and picking up new gear at the hobby shops!
My middle daughter has the NYC Flyer set, and is content to run the train while loading and off-loading her “Polly Pockets”.
My oldest though is 9, and just likes to play trains with daddy. And that’s alright by me!

I’m not as lucky as Kooljock and others. My daughter, who is 17, was never into toy trains but she is into painting and has painted a number of pictures for me and will paint the backdrop of my new layout soon before going to college.
