Who will iherit your railroad?

Greetings,

As life comes to a close for one and all oneday. Who will you leave your model railroad to?

And if you have no one or who is interested what will you do?

One word - e-Bay!

Maybe my daughter will keep a loco or two for sentimental reasons … maybe one of the Rock Islands, or perhaps the Iowa Interstate GP38.

My wife and sons will divide it up as they sit fit, along with all my tools. This is what my brothers and I did with our fathers lead soldier collection made by Britains. Even though toy soldiers are not my hobby, I still keep them. I imagine that my sons will keep some or all of Dad’s trains for sentimental reasons. It’s the memories that count.

I don’t know because I model some Conrail maybe I’ll have NS and CSX split it up.[(-D][(-D]

My son

Mine and all my train stuff will be divided up amongst all you fellow board members, it will be up to you all to divided equal and fair. No fighting and arguing, can you do it? [:D]

My three sons, [4:-)][C=:-)][C):-)].
Not only do they get my HO stuff, but also my grandfathers Lionel and American Flyer stuff. I’ve also told them I expect them each to keep a few pieces close to themselves, like the brass and scratchbuilt stuff. However I expect the rest of my stuff be used to “replant the seed” with whatever grandchildren come along. We have to continue the family tradition of model railroading, started in 1926.

if I cant take em I aint going

I have a detonator rigged up to a radio transceiver attached to my aorta, and when it stops(my heart, not the transceiver, I think.Hmmmm ,better replace that d-cell) 6,972 pounds of c-4 plastic explosives taken 3 oz’s at a time from the local co-op will explode my trains to the wind! Viva Gomez Addams!!!
Javern- I’m certain you see the logic and common sense of giving all of you equpiment to me-ME-ME!!! HARHARHAR! I would then, of course, distribute all items equitably to all of the forum members.
Yeah, thats the ticket.

Not being HO-DCC, it’s going to take me a little longer to climb that grade to HO heaven. When I clear that summit, it goes to our second hand hobby shop
at 25% of Trainworld’s prices.

I suspect the junk yard as both kids see no use in it and the wife considers it a waste of realestate.

My youngest son and my oldest granddaughter. They both love the hobby.

I’M TAKING IT WITH ME!!!

Donation to the local VFW home. Must be a lot of old steamers checked in there.

My adult son and adult daughter have no real interest in the hobby, but I suspect my son would keep some of dad’s trains just because they’re dad’s trains. If either of them ever produces grandchildren that may open up a whole new ballgame. I would have no problem if my wife sold all of it on ebay when that time comes. Ya can’t take it with ya!

When I go, wife gets it. She may either keep the items or give then to family. If this happens near the end of our lives I think if we have a rail club that is in need of equiptment or has a space for a town or two they are welcome to it. If there are none then either a estate sale or eBay.

We have carried trains in our family for near 4 generations now. I expect this to continue.

They’re coming with me! No one in my family appreciates them as much as I do!

I do not see that as a problem… it will probably be “taken over” by the UP any day now !

Likely my little brother. At least until I get kids of my own (Which might not be long).
