Why do manufacturers produce a lot of one roadname and not another??

I’m modeling Illinois Central and I keep looking for cars and engines but don’t find the ones I want. Most of the cars I find are orange instead of grey. I have only found one of the engines that I want and that is the SD70.

Also, if anyone knows when and if the companies are coming out with any IC stuff will you please tell me?

Manufacturers alwas follow the $$$$$$$.That’s why there are 1000 Santa Fe models to each IC or KCS model.They know Santa Fe will sell,even if ATSF didn’t own that model of engine or car.
By the way, I really like the IC SD 70.It is the only one with the standard cab.I have always preferred these to the widenose version.

Although it’s interesting that for the '02 olympic train, the UP heritage locos, and other interesting un-normal (is that a word?) locos are only being made by overland/Tower55. It seems that those would be good sellers for Athearn P2K etc.
