Why drunk driving, a dormant railroad line and heavy rain don't go together...

This guy apparently took a wrong turn on Pearson Falls Rd. in Melrose, N.C. and made it about two miles down the Norfolk Southern line toward Tryon. He had about a 100 foot fall down the washed out bank when he opened his door… didn’t make his way out for about six or eight hours and was apparently drunk enough that the fall didn’t kill him.

Remember kids, don’t drink and drive!

P.S. - My posted picture below is where he got on the tracks.

WOW!!

I guess the bump bump bump bump didnt clue him in?

Well, the good part to the story is its a truck that found the wash out, not a train…

Ed

BRF…I see you are talking about the lower part of Saluda grade…Wonder it that will be repaired…?
Have 14 red "X"s but can’t pull up any photos…
Any update on the future of the Saluda route…?

I am computer illirerate/ How do I pull up the 14 red x’s
on this topic or others ???

Are the red x’s still there? It’s showing pictures for me.

I’m sure they’ll fix it, but whenever they have the time to do so. Seeing as there are no trains running the line, I can’t imagine they’re in too big of a hurry. As far as the status of the line, it’s still sitting there with no signs of re-opening.

…BRF: The difference to your first post on my screen is the 14 red "X"s are all in a line now instead of in double rows…No Pictures.

…BRF: I did get some of your pic’s as Ed copied and sent them vai e-mail.

I posted using the Mozilla Firefox web browser, and when I opened it with Internet Explorer, I got the red X’s. I’ll try to fix it.

BRF…That will be interesting to see all the rest of the shots…They are very interesting.

…BRF: Success…! They are coming through now…Thanks a lot…and they are great…!

At least he found the washout and not a train. And its good the line is closed so the train didnt get to the washout[:0]

Glad it finally worked, I had to copy the link off of Internet Explorer and post with IE instead of Firefox. Something so simple…

…How will they ever get that truck out of that location…And however it’s done it will be a costly move. Probably quite a bit of under carriage repair will be necessary on vehicle if they are successful in getting it back on a road…

Hmmm… I can’t successfully load the pictures using either Explorer or Firefox…[banghead]

…blhanel…I don’t know what is happening…Now, this morning all I’m getting is red "X"s and some blank squares…{the size of the photos}, and no photos…Last evening BRF had it working fine and the photos came through great…??

I keep getting little squares with something in them;and when
I right click, and get the list then left click to view image,I get told it
can’t be found.

Very lucky guy! Hopefully he will live the rest of his life without booze or illegal drugs[:o)][:p][:D]
