Why not headlights?

Looking over my Great MR’s 05, I noticed that special effects have been added to certain photos, i.e. smoke, steam etc. Why can’t they add headlights to the pics that have a hot consist thundering along the main, or a group of engines sitting in a yard, with no lights on?
It would make the pics more realistic, and comply with laws and safety rules too!

I think most steam roads did not require that headlights be on during the day, so such an effect may not be prototypically correct.

Often the “smoke” and “steam” from models is (or was) done during the actual photographic exposure with some cotton batten that would be moved, creating the wispy effect.

Bob Boudreau is right – in the days of steam, trains normally did not run with their headlights on in the daytime.
