So - is it ambivalence or is it smokescreen? How will NS stock respond and is that part of the calculus?
Has the silly season of presidential politics rubbed off on this proposed merger? It’s not only getting complicated but a bit weird. Big egos aside, me thinks their’s an easier way to make a buck and still enjoy life.

I am going to really show my ignorance with this question but, what has someone retiring at UP got to do with a merger between NS and CP? Someone please explain this to me because I don’t get it.
George E Benson, Do you know what constitutes a conspiracy? 2 or more people talking about the same topic. If a legal person from one railroad were to talk to another person at a different railroad about how to stop or harm another railroad, that could be considered a conspiracy. Which is illegal in the US. But there are varying degrees and types of conspiracies, which really complicates proving a criminal conspiracy.
I’d like to see a different photo of Mr. Harrison!

re UP retirement, like politics; positioning yourself for a " good Job" when the merger happens the person will be offered a good position in the " new management team" - when you check out what HUNTER did for CN & CP

Mr. Benson, as the article says, the letter about the UP retirement was sent to all the big railroads. Apparently this is routinely done for important personnel changes. EHH is starting his own conspiracy theory.
Mr. Haws, Wouldn’t a “criminal conspiracy” have to involve some type of illegal physical action ?

History repeating … Ackman/Harrision having ‘read the tea-leaves’ (declining COAL/oil) exposes Norfolk Directors to a general freight future; heavely containerized - but lacking in dominance of the past - which led to their advantage over the SOUTHERN.
