Will New N Scale Locos Work On Code 40?

I plan to switch from HO to N and I would like to use code 40 track. I heard that the Micro-Trains low profile frieght wheels will work but I don’t know if there are wheel replacements for locos. Are any new N scale locos able to operate on code 40?

Hello, NSMTNER,

N scale locomotives won’t operate on pre-fab code 40 track without turning down the flanges or replacing the wheels with a low-profile type. Check the Model Train Magazine Index (there’s a link at the top of the page) for references to articles in the hobby press on how to do this.
