Just got my 726 from www.mapajunction.com, runs very well, smoke output is good for a Seuthe type unit. Highly recommended if you like traditional motive power.

That is very nice. I have a long wish list of Williams’ locos and the 726 is at the top of the list, along with the 671, and the 2056 Hudson. I saw a Williams 671 running at a train show a few weeks back and it left a very favorable impression on me. That loco smoked great. I was told the smoke unit has no wick and can run for hours without fluid. I wouldn’t want to find out the hard way the guy was wrong about that though. The best of luck with it!

Actually their smoke units can be very problematic.They are very sensitive to fluid amounts. Too little and you can burn them out, too much and they won’t smoke for hours. When the smoke output decreases there is no way to determine if you need more or less fluid. They are nice runners though. I have run an F3 and 2056 for hours on the club layout pulling heavy loads and they just keep humming along. They could use more sound output though. Its OK in a quiet room but barely audible in a large hall unlike the K-Line and Lionel engines. Has anyone improved the sound output in their Williams engines?

I have a Williams # 671, from the second production run. The first two runs had no bell. It has a digital whistle, which is quite loud. I put smoke fluid in it about two weeks ago and it’s still smoking. Great engine.
