Today I was able to see in person the new Williams GP 30 at the LHS. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!! [tup]

I have the NYC, yep it’s a good one.

Is that traditional size, in other words 14 1/2" long? Or the bigger size. Thanks.

The coupler-to-coupler length with the oversized knuckle couplers is about 58 scale feet, the prototype is 56 and some change. The frame length is approx 54 feet while the prototype is 52 and some inches.

Bob, does anybody know what the height of the engine is from the top of the rail to the lowest point on a Lionel 313 bascule bridge. That is about 4 3/8". I have posted this question on several sites and have yet to get an answer from anybody. I want to buy this engine if it will fit through my bridge.

On its side on my desk, it looks a smidge over ± 3 1/2 inches from the top of the roof, to the bottom of the wheel (not the flange). About 14 to the prototypes 15 foot height.

It looks good to me. How do you like the sound system? I’ve got a CN RS3 on order and I’m really looking forward to its arrival.

I wish they would come out with a high short hood version and paint it in the Southern Railway Tuxedo scheme. Do you see any chance of that happening? You have a better vantage point in those kind of matters than I do.

The sound is pretty good although not very loud and no volume control that I could find.

I imagine it would totally depend on sales, if they were good for the low-nose, they might be willing to try a high-nose. People contacting them, or posting in the O gauge area of the Bachmann forum wouldn’t hurt, either.

What I like is they have gone to wire rails and not the old thick stamped out ones.

Bob, thank you. If it is only 3 l/2" from bottom of wheel to top of engine, that would clear my bridge with room to spare. Now to find the ACL version and a good price. The price seems to be all over the place depending on where you buy.

Let me correct that, I re-measured it and it was 3 3/4 inches.

This has been a bad week for multi-tasking like editing and measuring.

Bob, 3 3/4" is still good. The bridge is at 4 3/8" approx. so it should clear with room to spare.
