Williams - sound and speed control?

I have some new Williams ABA diesels with only horn & bell - wonder if speed control can be added… my new MTHs are so much nicer with the sound and realistic constant speed control, especially at slow speed. I hear that various sound boards can be added, but see no mention of speed control…

Yeah, sure you can… It wont be cheap, but its possible.

Train America Studios (tastudios.com) can install an Engineer on Board speed control system for you.

what is speed control exactly??? does the loco maintain the same speed regardless of whether it’s going upgrade or downgrade?

Once you set the throttle at the speed you want to run your train at, the circuitry maintains that same speed when you go up or down grades, or through curves.

All MTH engines (whether PS2 or LocoSound) have a speed control, I believe most new K-Line locomotives have their own in-house speed control, upper end Lionel engines have a speed control system. Atlas O is using the tastudios speed control, while the new Weaver Little Joe, uses K-Line’s speed control.

Can constant speed control work with conventional transformers? I though you needed TMCC or DCS for it to work.

Pete

They work both command and conventional…

Thanks, guys - I’m running just conventional, Z-750 power, and this is my first experience with speed control - very impressive and realistic… I love my old tinplate growler herky-jerky trains but this is so superior and realistic… my new Williams Golden Memories diesels look great, are larger and more scale than my RTR set MTH locos, but still the old unsteady running characterics. It appears in my Kline catalog that only the high-dollar stuff has speed control, whereas the MTH cheapies do…spoiled me…
