Williams trains BL-2 , horn / bell adjustable ?

Just purchased a Williams trains BL-2 , my third 3 rail locomotive now . And to my wife and I , the horn is a horrible sound /noise . We have quite a few G scale locos with sound [:p]…and two Lionel O-27 locos with sound [:)] or at least a horn and bell sound . We like the BL-2 loco , but is there any adjustment that can be made to modify the horrible sound .[:0]
Thank you
This is other than the “not useing them” answer [:D]

Welcome to the forum, ccgrc; I guess it depends on what you mean by adjustment. The Williams trains are solid, basic engines - the sounds aren’t adjustable per se - you’d have to swap out the sound board.

Hi
To the best of my knowledge, all BL-2s have the True-Blast II horn/bell in them. If yours does, there is no adjustments that can be made to the unit. I have looked at the board on my scale Hudson for some sort of adjustments and could not find any. (Not because it sounds bad, but because the chuff rate is too slow and the chuffing is very loud.) My Hudson and my E-7s both have the TBII sound boards in them and they sound great! If yours sounds bad, chances are you have a defective board. If by some chance your loco has the “electronic horn”, what you are getting is as good as it gets. There are two potentiometers on the electronic horn board that can be adjusted to change the sound slightly, but you will still have a bad sounding electronic “bleet” sound.
Hope this helps.

Thanks , I was afraid that it is , what it is , sound . It wll have to be replaced , for it is a C&EI BL-2 , which I had seen many times at Wansford yards and roundhouse , long ago . I am a C&EI fan . Thanks for the welcome Doug . I am in G outside , and slowly evolving into 3 rail for inside also , for when its to bad to be outside , like it was last night and todays weather also .

Do you have the Atlas RS-1 for C&EI from a few years ago? It’s fun to pick a road that’s not so common - and then hunt down what’s produced in its livery? What makes you like this road?

It just so happens that the LHS has a Atlas C&EI RS-1 sitting in the case , which is covered with fingerprints …mine . Why do I like this road , I lived within sight , or just the other side of the woods , of the C&EI Wansford yards and roundhouse for 20 plus years . The roundhouse workers were very nice , and I rode in , drove , was around a lot of C&EI locomotives . As a child I rode the C&EI passenger trains , and later in the Navy I also used them , and as a railfan I also rode them .
So its hard to ignore the RRds I have been around 50 plus years …C&EI , Southern , L&N , IC , B&O , and now the CSX and NS .
I like all trains , and scales , started in HO , then G scale , and now also O-27 3 rail , they are all great . My Grandkids and a Lionel Thomas train set is why I now have 3 locos ansd three O-27 trains in about a month …so far .

Ccgrc,

If you haven’t already done it, you need to visit the Kentucky Railroad museum at Bardstown, Kentucky. They have a restored BL-2 in the Monon color scheme.

George

Thanks George , and then I would want a BL-2 ptd as a MONON , it is a nice paint scheme …
