Does anybody sell windows that are already made or is there a simple way to make them, other than placing clear plastic on the inside of the building

Your question has been asked many times in this and other forums. Do a subject search for the threads. You don’t specify scale so I can’t answer your first question with any certainty.
Much of model railroading is fine detail work. Doing it well is its own satisfaction. Making and installing individual panes in windows is indeed a pain. ![]()
I cut individual panes of glass from the thinnest transparent plastic I can find, cut to size using an exacto knife and a steel ruler. Having a digital caliper helps. I then put small dots of cement in diagonally opposite corners and pressfit them in place using a vacuum pick up tool (available from Micro-Mark Tools, part number 81851). Depending on your temperment you may want to use a ‘sheet glass’ method for background structures and individual panes in only foreground structures and contest models.
Others prefer other methods and materials. Glazing is one of those aspects of modeling which is very individual.
Good Luck
