Just drove by Windsor, and saw a pile of rail equipment–open coaches, snow plows, cabooses, road switchers, about 10 yard switchers and other equipment,it was like a museum but apparently this is a working short line, servicing a gypsum mine. Does anyone know any more about this strange little railway???
It’s the Windsor & Hantsport Railway, using a portion of the former Dominion Atlantic Railway ( a CPR Subsidiary). They’ve been using some retired RS-23 switchers but recently got a few GP-9’s, but I don’t recall where they came from. They ship gypsum out to processing plants and to ship loading facilites in Halifax and Hantsport.

Bob: thanks , I was begining to think I was hallucinating, would it be W&HR written on the engines, this is quite a system, but what could those old open-side passenger cars be used for?? do they have excursions???can people visit the site?? They do have some very unique running equipment. Must do some more investigation. The train station is gone in Kentville but the track is still on the ground to the edge of town.
