Another home run! Even though I’m not handlaying I DO plan to use some of Tony’s techniques while adding ballast to my flex track mainline. A really nice and informative video. Thanks.

I like Tony a lot. Why is he only doing a small portion of the layout, he mentioned commercial turnouts either side of where he is working?
Tony continues to amaze, and that’s not to take anything away from David, Cody and gang, who also do an excellent job, but it’s truly honor to watch one of the best in action! Now bring on the rail!

Its probably a matter of preference, but wouldn’t it have been better to paint (seal) the plywood and homasote before getting it wet with alcohol and glue mix? A quick coat of “dirt” preps the surface for future additions of texture materials.
I get commercial ties prestained, but still sand them. The original staining still remains a little bit after sanding. This give a variety of coloring when I apply several light coats of stain to all the ties that have been glued down. For the overall staining I use the Builders In Scale stains. The RedWood, BlackWood and BrownWood stains are good for ties.I vary the coloring as I go and it gives a really good effect for Colorado Narrow Gauge.
