It seems that winter is a bad time for garden railways/tramways.
Not such a bad time for the railway or equipment, just a bad time for aging people who worry about being able to get up again after slipping on the ice and those who aren’t fortified with enough of Johnny Walker’s antifreeze for humans!
I use vodka!
The railway in winter is a dry walkway for the cat.Winter is for building.
Spring is for planting
Summer is for gardening with beer delivery-by rail!
Autumn is night time photo shots
Winter is seeing a several feet of lake-effect snow, but knowing that somewhere below it is my garden railroad. It’s the ‘time to build stuff for the railroad’ season!

Winter is finding out I better have at least one battery powered locomotive to pu***he plow if I want to plow the line after not cleaning the track for at least a month .
No ,you mis-understand.
Winter is,sod the railway(you don’t get any points for enthusiasm)
Enjoy your life and come back to it in the spring
Mind you,I’m working on a battery powered track cleaner.
The wind is whats stopping me today, its Sat afternoon and I’m off and the lower main is clear but winds are 20 to 30 mph Love to get more snow shots , maybe tomorrow
ALL OF YOU ABOVE ,how true , i have enough of trouble in the summer when i get down to put my trains on the track, i don’t need to fall, thats why i have 100 ft. of track in the basement for the winter[:D] BEN
This is my fire house a few hours ago. At the moment it on the verge of disappearing.
It’s been a good day to work on an indoor project because the northeastern USA, including South Jersey, is in the middle of a big blizzard.
