This is news? Every time New York City gets anything but sunshine, the entire country is supposed to go into full bore panic because that poor excuse of a city caves in on itself because it can’t deal with reality.
At least there will be service on the rails, not like all the cancelled flights and the grounded planes all over the northeast.
In defense of Amtrak, and M-NR, lots of the catenary is over 100-years old, inherited from the New Haven. It is beyond time to get it replaced by new constant-tension catenary. It sure has served its purpose. Let the miscreants out-of-jail to work on it. Pay them $1.00/hour. “Gun Bosses” $10.00. Those that get killed, working on 11,000 V., or 25,000 V. catenary will just save taxpayers money. Rikers Island would be begging for inmates!
