Winterail to hold last California event in 2015
No surprise. In recent years, I have had relatives and friends, some of them railfans, who have fled Calif. like refugees fleeing Syria or the Ukraine, to Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and Utah. Many of the small model RR companies in the LA area have fled also.(Athearn is still there). Local and state taxes are too high there, for one thing. Perhaps Winterail should have first tried moving out of Stockton to another venue somewhere.
Too Bad Vic. It’s unfortunate the city of Stockton has destroyed itself. I don’t go to Stockton anymore
because I didn’t loose anything there. The last time I visited Stockton, I was responding to a Wildland fire
in Southern California in a Fire Engine (code 3). I have never been able to attend Winterail. Several of my railfan friends have worked the event. The stories that came back from Winterail were great. Thanks Steve Habeck, Vic Neves, et al!
Vic, I hope your event moving to Corvalis, Oregon is successful.
Any excuse to dis on California - I love it. This has nothing to do with CA or the City of Stockton folks
