Wiring a Lionel #6019 Remote control track section

All of the wiring needs to be replaced in my #6019. I have rewired both the track and the contacts. I din’t know for sute if the wiring is correct.

  1. I have wired one wire to the contact and wire that goes to the center magnet, with the other end going to the second contact from the bottom on the uncouple side.

  2. the other wire on the same side of the track as #1 ( call it the inside wire) goes to the bottom contact (the one farthest from the switch buttons) of the switch unit.

  3. The (inside) wire on the opposite side from center, goes to the top contact (or switch button contact) . The last wire goes to the second contact ((the one just under the switch button contact).

Also, the switch contacts don’t seem to be corect. Can anyone tell me the open and closed positions of the contacts.

Without pushing the switch causing the 1st (top) contact to touch the second one, I havve the 2, 3, and 4 (bottom) contacts all open on the uncouple side, and 2 and 3 are closed on the unload side.

Pressing the uncouple will make 1, 2 & 3 be in contact.

Pressing the unload switch will cause 1 to contact the 2-3 contacts.

4 contact, or the bottom (closest to the screw) never seem to contact anything.

Just got back into the hobby. It is somewhat new to me, but I have an electrical background, so what you sent will work great.

You obviously got the drawing from a book, if so can you give me the name so I can look it up?

Bob, interesting find - I tried a search on Olsen’s for 6019 (and UCS since they are in the same repair section pages) and the search came back nothing found. I tried several variations with no luck.
