Problem with wiring blocks. If I enter block #2 with my steam loco, engine is in one block, tender with ground in the previous. Not using a common ground. Suggestions on how to wire the blocks to eliminate the stopping other than going with a common ground? Any help would be appreciated.
Don’t use blocks use DCC. Go to www.loystoys.com
And look for a system that is right for your railroad.
David:Using a large number of OFM brass steam. Cannot see replacing all the motors with cans for DCC. I guess you can say I am taking the easy way out by using blocks.
If going from block 1 to block 2 and both blocks are fully connected to the same cab there should be no stall or hesitation because the exact same power should be going to both sides of the two insulated rail joiners, so to speak. It almost sounds to me like you have blended common rail and non-common rail in your wiring. I believe Atlas components for example assume common rail. Unfortunately it seems Kalmbach no longer publishes a book on DC cab control wiring unless I am missing something, The Linn Westcott and Andy Sperandeo books are still seen at swap meets.
