hello
i have a 80 foot loop of lionel track i have put up in my loft.
im having trouble figuring out the best way to wire it.
and i was wondering how big of a transformer i will need ,
aslo any tips on wire types
thanks much
-James
I am not familiar with Lionel stuff at all so i cant comment too much about the wiring but the size of your layout has nothing to do with the size of the power supply and check if you need a power supply or just a transformer. look at the power usage of your locos first that willtellyou what sort of power supply you need

my understanding of Lionel track is that it can have poor power continuity . As Ian says the size of the layout is not relevant to power supply . Personally I would run as heavy a gauge of cable as is reasonable and feed the track at 2 or more points , obviously making sure of polarity matching , this will keep a constant power level and prevent volt drop.As far as power supply is concerned bigger is generally better within reason.
