Hello,
I’m in the process of constructing my layout and want to go with DCC and Peco Flex Track. Is there anything special I need to do to my turnouts in order for them to run with DCC? Another words to be able to switch them using DCC and not switch them manually.
I know Peco offers two types of turnouts. Which one should I use? Do I need to switch machine for them?
All input would be greatly appreciated.
Hello, DCC WIRING MADE EASY BY kALBACH is a good choice, some sugest electro frog some don’t, I wired mine the normal way with Peco under table switches, they work fine, You might want to check out Loys Toys web site or Tony’s exchange they have much useful help. Good Luck and have some fun with it
It depends on which Peco turnouts you have. The Peco “InsulFrog’s” work with DCC with no problems. Just put them on the layout, wire for DCC abd have a ball. Their “ElectroFrog’s” can be used but require more work. See Loy’s Toy’s web site http://www.loystoys.com/ for more detail.
Can I confirm: it sounds as if you’re asking about throwing the switches using DCC, as opposed to running DCC locos through them?
You will need a switch machine (Peco makes ones that fit, other machines also work) and a DCC switch control module.
You may have to loosen the spring in the turnout that holds the points in position – there are 2 metal tabs on a plastic thingy that can be loosened and tightened to adjust.
