This might be another boring wiring question to some but would like your help. I am planning to put a wye in my layout , I am running digitrax DCC, my question is by running dcc do I need to wire the track differently ?
No. Only if the wye turnout provides both the entrance and exit to a loop that would comprise a reversing loop., including a turning wye.
“Wye” has taken on 2 meanings. The first is a physical Y-shaped turnout. That requires no special wiring. The other meaning generally involves 3 turnouts, and that does qualify as a “reversing section” and needs to be wired as such.
For a turning wye you will need an auto-reversing module like the MRC or the Digitrax AR1, the two least expensive I think. If your going to wire power districts you might consider one of the Tony’s PowerShields with auto-reversing (I think.)
