Wisconsin awards grants to six rail projects

I noticed that the Madison to Watertown segment would have been rebuilt with high speed funding. Scottie Walker that done. Another reason why Scottie must loose this election, he is a total (^%&^)(.

As I was trying to say until thumbs interfered, funny how rail projects that benefit business are approved versus projects like commuter rail that benefit the grunts that pay a majority of taxes. Lets hope Wisconsin voters wake up and vote this governor out of office.

Nathan, Have to at least give WI Gov some credit for consistency of disliking transit. FL Governor killed HSR from Tampa to Orlando but did a great job of quietly seeing that a good chunk of state money was funneled to SunRail cronies.

Hopefully, when that POS Scoot Walker gets the boot, passenger will move forward as it should.

The WSOR between Waukesha-Milton definitely needs work. I was in MIlton last weekend and it appears due for an overhaul for sure.

The trouble is if Governor Walker does get voted out of office his opponent Mary Burke is against mining which wouldn’t be good for all the railroads servicing the frac sand mines around the state. It’s nice to see lines that haven’t seen trains in 20 years active again. Examples are Oregon Sub on WSOR, Adams Sub on UP, and Ladysmith line on CN. I didn’t agree with him turning down federal funds for expanded Amtrak service but I’m happy to see investment in our state’s infrastructure.

Ah, Wisconsin grants millions of dollars to support rail infrastructure. For all liberals who don’t get it, it’s really quite simple. Gov. Walker backing away from the passenger projects was a simple business decision. He was trying to balance the budget and not saddle the state with a huge long term financial commitment. The Governor is not anti-rail as evidenced by these significant financial commitments. This is a pro-business move. As stated by Mr. Duprey in another comment you can bet your bottom dollar that if his opponent gets elected rail business will decline.

Glad to see Wisconsin making a commitment to these lines many of which were in danger when the Milwaukee Road retrenched in 1980 but the State purchased. Of course there is some old CNW trackage there as well which are seeing some attention. Now, the State does need to be a bit more proactive with rail passenger expansion such as the logical extension to Madison and north through the Fox Valley to Green Bay.

I find it interesting that the state is only investing where they have an interest in “State Owned”.

…and nothing [thank you Gov Walker] for improvement and increased passenger service on the Hiawatha corridor [CHI-MKE] and payment to Talgo for the cancelled new trains!! Dick Lukin
