Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad constructing new depot

Very nice. I alway’s thought this railroad would have a small freight base on that line?..but I bet CN the connection road doesn’t have time to pick up whatever carloads the WGN could drum up. Just my thinking here…

I do remember riding this tourist line in its’ first yaer of operation back in 1997. Back then the SW1 was the only motive power and the trains only ran from Spooner to Trego. The group worked hard to promote and diversify in what it offered, adding Fall punkin trains, Wild West trains, dinner trains and such. Some ideas caught on, others were dropped.
Eventually the organization raised funding to extend their operation from Trego, Northeast to Springbrook. I had ridden their trains many Summers during camping outings in the area. I wish them well.
