WMSR C&O 2-6-6-2 No. 1309 rehabilitation nears midpoint

Strides, Chase. Great strides.

I’ve ridden the WMSR behind 734 twice. Lord willing, I’ll be back to ride behind this articulated baby.

Amazing. I thought 1309 would be a big pile of rust after sitting outside for so long. Can’t wait to see the great strides bear fruit.

How is the money holding out? This article should have contained the address receiving the contributions? Don’t seat the new flues till all the other work is done, to save on the clock. This sure is good news to read.

impressive, thank you

Will the recent departure of their CMO have any impact on the timetable?

The article waxes rosy despite the apparent recent departure of the CMO who one assumes was the person most directly in charge of this work. Echoing the appropriate question from Mr. Rowlands, how will this affect the timetable of this closely-watched restoration project? This is a big opportunity for WMSR; if the project stumbles there will probably be much disappointment and dismay among those of us watching from the sidelines, followed by a waning of interest. Worst and most inexcusable of all would be if the project were to halt with the locomotive left in pieces.

imagine what would happen if both 734 and 1309 operated a doubleheaded steam special?
