I’m guessing they wont ever do it again…
Mr. Toth; Are you kidding? The pic is simply a journalistic tool to help the reading public realize it’s a big train that was involved. If you’re that upset about it, go for a walk or something.
If the crew were willing, I would love to see the video played in the courtroom with the crew giving a play-by-play of what was happening and their reactions (i.e. “that hissing sound when we started onto the bridge is me putting the train in Emergency; that’s all I can do. I just knew we had two fatalities”, etc. Might get the judge/jury to understand this was not exactly a victimless crime.
I see trespassing all the time at the local CSX yard close to my home, mostly it is commercial photographers taking wedding pictures and graduation pictures on the track. I ask one female photograhers if she knew that her trespassing was against the law and she replied “it’s not a crime if you don’t get caught” After I told her she was ruining it for the rest of us who do it right, I told her if she get’s hit by a train, it’s on you.

These trespassers are very lucky to be alive. I only hope others, likely teenagers, don’t think this is a great idea to try some time while stoned and get splattered all over the front of the locomotive!
You cannot fix stupid… but you can sue stupid.
trespassing is against the law
They were very fortunate to survive. Maybe a bigger warning sign at the bridge entrance.
Being unable to “get into the minds” of the crew, Bryant,
here’s a clue about how badly the engineer is mentally damaged.
It’s what he was quoted as saying.
“I just knew we had two fatalities,” and “train in emergency, that’s all I can do.”
That is an experienced, as in “been there, done that,” engineer’s attitude, which many of us acquired after 2 or 3 fatality incidents. Me, about 12 casualties, 6 fatal.
Any way, I’d love to know why they were on the bridge…they parked a car and traipsed on a bridge with no walkways…why?
It pleases me that they now have to come up with bail bond money in addition to money that will pay a laundry to launder their underwear.
Perhaps they should install cameras on the bridge that would send pictures to the dispatchers office. That person could call law enforcement if they saw anything.
Hope the trespassing charges get as much publicity as the video!

stupidity is an understatement in this case. They are blessed to be alive. No one loves trains more than me, but I have since enough to stay off the tracks when photgraphing them. And on a bridge with no where to go! Idiots, plane and simple.
I wonder if the engineer will sue them for mental stress - they could have given him a heart attack when he couldn’t avoid running them over and thinking he had killed them!
“It’s not a crime if you’re not caught”? This woman has been grossly deceived.
Those two should be sentenced to scoop up the body parts of similarly stupid people who weren’t so lucky.
If you can’t read, the trespassing signs are worthless. If you’re just plain stupid there’s no easy way out.
I wish they would cite the graffiti trespassers as well.
make them teach Operation Lifesaver classes for a couple of years
