What happened to 1385’s original tender that a new tender has to be built to replace it.
The original tender was sidelined in the 70’s when the R-1 was rebuilt. A smaller tender was found and modified from an oil burning R-1 (1361?). The original was retrieved in the early 2000’s to be rebuilt for the current project. The original frame and trucks are being used on the new tender
Great progress! I’m looking forward to seeing 1385 in steam again.
