That is one terrific video! They could have been working on my 2026 which I got in 1948 and still runs today.
WOW - a great video - one I had never seen. The last part, starting at about 3:57 is taken from one of the two Iron Pony films that Lionel produced in 1949 and, I believe 1952 or 1953. These videos are great and I hope CTT puts them all on a high quality DVD along with the Showroom movies. Hope you find more of them!!!
Made in USA: still runnung 4-5-6 decades later. Parts available, techs to mend ,repair, keep for future generations. Made in Asia: cute , fancy hi tech circuit boards no repair or tinkering, expensive. replace not repair, sit on siding as static displays.Give me my ZW, 2383, Hudson w/ whistling tender, or other antiques and let the "Good Times " roll.
Does bring back memories, mostly of the sacrifices my folks made so I could enjoy my toy train as a youngster. A better time in the USA when people worked and didnt expect handouts from anyone. By the way, my train from this era works great
Fantastic video! I am 65 years old and never had seen anything about the factory until this one. Are there more that are available for viewing?
Great piece of history! This is my era. Thank you.
great video.hopefully more footage will become aavailable.maybe there is some fotage of LIONEL SERVICE stations &factory layouts.
great video, maybe more film wil surface.maybe there is some Lionel service station & factory layout footage out there
It was great to see how some of my toy trains and track were made. I am still using track from 1941, lots of buffing.
Very nice video. Amazing to see how many people it took to build all those items, and how well everything is designed, built and tested. No wonder the old trains fire right up after sitting a long time.
Sure would be nice to see them manufactured here again.
A great trip through the Dream Factory! I remember being on a family trip and driving by the Irvington plant. My father pointed out that this is where Lionel trains were made and I always hoped I’d get a look inside. I agree with Bradley about those days and our values back then. I still have every Lionel that was given to me when I was a boy and they all still work just fine. The only Lionel items I ever wore out were two pieces of O27 curved track. Wore right through the outside rails from lots of train running.
Watching the newsreel makes me realize why my postwar Lionel trains are still running. They were well constructed by ordinary people right here in NJ.

WOW! I saw several train items that I had as a child and a few that I still have! My locomotive was made in 1947 -1948 and it is still running! A big THANK-YOU for posting this video and for a look into the past!
Wonderful video…Great job with this E newletter. I look forward to it.
More old and new factory films would be great. Keep up the good work.

I got my first Lionel set in 1951. I still have it and it still runs. Still have my Dads 200 series standard guage from the 1920s and that still runs too! Great trains!
Thanks
Great viewing and imagine the lucky factory workers who had to do the same task each day; but beats being a toll collector. Would love to see more like this.
Great video .A walk down memory lane for my self. living in the new york area i was aware of lionel trains and how they were made . Good job
Still have my 1953 Christmas 1501S train set; rescued when my folks sold their house in 1972. Still runs great, now working on 12x28 barn to house my new layout. CTT subscriber since 1997; keep up the good work! Thanks very much for a great video; please do more if they are available.
Tales of toy trains and the people that made it happen, great stuff!
