[Granted, this is a small concern in the whole realm of things]
Just sitting waiting for the latex caulk holding a decoder upside down in space in a loco frame to dry. Waiting for an hour or two for this stuff to dry is a nuisance when I want to get on with the task.
I like the caulk because it stays flexible and I can always wiggle the decoder off later if I need to. I also use double sided carpet tape (too weak a bond sometimes) and an industrial double-sided tape (impossible to remove the decoder afterwards without breaking it in half).
Anybody have a suggestion for a type of flexible goop to hold on a decoder and that sets up in a minute or two?
You might try a foam double sided tape. If you want to remove the stuck-on item, instead of prying it off, you use dental floss to “saw” through the foam. You can then scrape or rub the remains of the foam from the item and where it as mounted.
I use kapton tape. Basically, it’s a very thin, clear, yellowish tape (maybe 0.003") that holds very well, as well as insulates. I use it for all my decoder installations. You can get it from Litchfield Station.
