Wow - Miserable ebay seller ....

There is a current ad on ebay for a resin cast caboose. There is no picture. The ad simply states …

THIS IS A VERY NICE WELL DETAILED CABOOSE.IT HAS NICE SCALE METAL HANDRAILS AND GRABIRONS.CAR # IS 35940 IT HAS ANGLED OUTSIDE CORNER BRACING AND A LOW COUPALA AT THE END OF THE CAR AND ITS 32’ LONG

Obviously, with no picture, and graded C7, I wanted more info. I contacted him to see if the caboose was complete ( painted / lettered / trucks / couplers, etc. ) … this was his reply …

NO PIX.LOOK,YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO HAVE USE YOUR IMAGINATIONS IF YOU WANT TO BE THE NEXT MALCOLM FURLOW.OFCOURSE THE CABOOSE IS COMPLETE.WHY WOULD I SELL SOMTHING THATS NOT COMPLETE? AND AS FAR AS HURTING THE SALE.I DON’T CARE IF YOU BUY IT OR NOT.I THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE A DEDACATED D&H MODELER OUT THERE THAT WOULD LIKE TO OWN A NICE CABOOSE.THERS NOTHING ON EBAY THAT SAYS I HAVE TO POST PICTURES ANYWAY.HECK.GET ON THE INTERNET AND DO A LITTLE RESEARCH AT ONE OF THE RAILROAD PICTURE GALLERY SITES.THATS ALL I GOT TO SAY ABOUT THIS

I dunno … I don’t think I’ll be buying anything from THIS guy anytime soon - sheesh !!!

Mark.

With an attitude like that, there’s a good chance he’d probably rip you off anyway. The car may not even exist at all.

nice guy, sure he will make millions

As Bugs Bunny used to say, “What a maroon!!”

Darrell, quiet…for now

This wouldn’t be the same guy who listed the common Athearn diesel engine for a fortune, would it? If I recall right, his answers to questions were very similar.

Wow… I know who gets the “Mr. Cranky Pants Award” for this week. shessh

And don’t forget… “What an ultra-maroon!! What an ignoranumus!!”

If we see the shipping costs are around 35-40 dollars. We know we have our athearn sd-45 ultra rare, first edition, my father bought it and I say its worth 1500.00,because I said so. ebay loser. Did I forget anything?

Mark, this guy certainly exemplifies the personification of “stupidity”.

Smart move on your part. No matter how desireable the item is…if I don’t see a picture, I’m not bidding…period. As has been stated so many times, ebay is the world’s biggest flea market and there are sellers with an incredible variety of attitudes including those mentally handicapped in the common sense and courtesy departments.

Caveat Emptor (let the buyer beware)

No picture spells “junk” to me.

Enjoy
Paul

Mark,

Can you post the link to this sale?

What this shows is if you have any doubt about the accuracy of the item, it is not a bad idea to contact the seller. Much can be learned from the response. I was going to ask for a link but I see Antonio already did.

There are miserable people everywhere but do we really need to keep bringing it up week after week?

Sometimes PIC don’t tell the tail either. I bought a lot of cars and steam engine off E-bay. I was mainly after a cover hopper, crane, and 62’ tanker. The steam engine was a plus. Seller said he was sending a long some HO train stuff parts as well. What he did not say was the parts where the parts that had been broken off the engine and other cars. He all so siad they where in good shape for there age, I guess a broken steam engine that is 30 years old is still in good shape if it will not run?

I am not to PO about it, what I was after came in good shape and running now. But sure would have liked that steam engine to have run.

Not trying to take sides here, but I think it would only be fair if you posted the content of your letter to the seller as well as the auction number. If you are going to go out of your way to publicly flog a seller on eBay, then you really need to put all the facts on the table.

… Sure we do - some of us warped individuals find “stupid” entertaining !!! [;)]

I’ve exchanged a couple “offline” e-mails with the seller over this - his last response contains a classic line responding to the fact I have a couple pics of the real caboose …

… AND IF YOU HAVE AS MANY PICS OF THIS CABOOSE AS YOU SAY YOU DO THEN I DON’T HAVE TO POST ANY ON EBAY,DO I.

Obviously this person has no concept on how to sell his stuff for maximum profit !!!

I didn’t know if we could post links to auctions, so here it is …

Mark.

Check out the bottom of his ad - my letter in full is posted for all to see.

Now, the personal e-mails I’ve received, they’re just not nice - bordering on personal attacks which I thought was totally uncalled for.

Mark.

Imagine if shoe stores worked that way … “What do you mean, you want to try them on? You know what shoes look like, don’t you?”

Dave Nelson

wow… how does he expect to sell anything with an attitude like that? I mean… the questions are/were valid (and probably a really good idea b/c of the lack of pics…)… but his responses were completely out of line.

all kinds of characters on the 'net, huh?

There’s a bid on it… Now, which one of you is it?[:D]

Notice that although his feedback is 100% positive, he has only 2 feedbacks. Always check the feedback rating before bidding.
