Dang! [:0]
Ouch
Holy $***!
OH my, I do wonder what happened here? From the video it looks to me as if people might of
seriously been injured. Well, you don’t see that every day.
God Bless the people and families involved.
[:O] WOW!
Ouch I am glad I was not a passenger in the back one.
Bah…this will never beat my train blowing up! However, my respects and prayers to the deceased and injured!
THing SLAMMMED into that truck, its a good thing the other tram wasnt closer, coulda been even more disaster! HOLY CRAP batman!
I’ll bet the local dry cleaners and launromats cleaned a lot of underwear and trousers that day!
Happened in Prague. Five died.
It appears that a pedestrian got it first. Also, the way the video screens, it could have been excessive speed.
That is what I though as well.
My first thought after the viewing was “speed kills”. Guess I was right!
What I found interesting was the discussion in the article about this being “the worst tram accident this year.”
If you think that was bad, check out this one, Holy Guacamole!
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/71801/lefortovo_tunnel_of_death/
in Russia, I’ll bet the tunnel road surface is ultra-smooth, and ultra-slippery, combined with kamakazi-speeding drivers = horrifying results
WARNING this is harsh!
Did you notice how many people either stopped or avoided the accidents altogether. Maybe a combination of the worst and the best?
Do you mean a highway surface or are you saying it was raining & the tram slid off the tracks? [:o)]
I would wonder if there was some form of mechanical failure - the motor car and the lead truck of the trailer made it through the switch, then the second truck derailed. Then again, the trailer would be lighter and therefore more at risk from g-force induced derailments.
Regarding the Russian one, it looks like the same problem we get on motorways here - people driving too fast and too close together. Add in the fact that Russia has been flooded with new and powerful cars since the end of communism (which many people lack the experience to handle) and you have an instant accident blackspot. Many of the accidents were simply caused by braking too hard and too late in that clip.
That said, I have no idea how you get a bendy-bus that “sideways”. Impressively the driver managed to get it back (with a bit of help from the wall)!
that driver was really stupid and should be fired.
Looks like that tunnel has multiple curves within it. The outer lanes on either side have no runoff area and with the curves the sight lines for a driver are next to non-existant, couple that with drivers wandering in their lanes and you have the formula for the incidents that were shown.
