Here is something that was & has been kicking around for a few years…
My first Steamer, (thank you Grampa), a TYCO 2-6-2 Prairie.
Wanting to do it justice & still maintain a little of the TYCO flavor, but still undecided, & looking for the other bag of parts (the Borrower’s took it, again!) Yeah it’s Freelanced, as a deep woods unit…
PS: See, I don’t ‘only’ model diesels! heh heh… I really do admire Steam!!!

I had two projects this week. First was a Durango Press Rio Grande water tank.
I really gotta do something about that ditch next to the tracks in the first pic. Some fireman’s going to break his leg in it![xx(]
[It’s actually the joint where the lift-out access to the tracks below intersects the roadbed, needs more ground cover there…[:$] ]
Then there was my major land acquisition, where I added considerable acreage at Dove creek, as recounted in this thread, my Halloween effort:

Still making removable coal loads. While working out how many loads I required, I came across an unbuilt hopper, so with a “hats off” to Heartland Garry I assembled it.
Also attended club night, I have started cutting and assembling the timber framework for the corner modules, not really worthy of a photo yet. However a new club member bought in his first ever model railway purchase, hadn’t even been out of the box, so one of the lads helped him set it up for it’s first run.
Atlas, DCC, and sound, too modern for me but very nice, the proud owner was tickled pink.

Added a new highway overpass this week and incorporated one of my first HO scale buildings into the scene. The building was renamed and thanks go out to Tomkat-13 for the signs.

I have been trying to “customize” some vehicles for the layout. Several weeks ago, I tried a cement truck and a few of you had some suggestions (still working on the USDOT logo). Here is an HO scale Boley flat bed that I customized. The door decals are “water slide” and the weathering is some old black make-up, sealed with dullcoat.
A couple of years ago a crack formed in my backdrop where two sections of hardboard meet. I thought of several ways to remedy the unsightly/distracting area including sanding it down and trying to repaint in matching colors, which I concluded was darn near impossible to do. So I took the, to me… easy way out as seen in the photos below.
Still not through with the area, needs a few more trees, bushes etc. but I think it did the job.

Great idea Jarrell. Not only did you solve the problem but you turned it into an asset.
Your solution reminds me of when I had a large rock in my backyard. I could move it but there was no way I could lift it. My dad came up with the answer. Did a hole and bury it.
Similar but different issues.

Looks like a great start to the weekend with some great modeling!
I have been continuing building the “mountain” which will go behind the tracks going to staging. It is about 2/3rds. finished at this point with lots of trees, bushes, vines, and other things like critters to be added.

Thanks Otto and Bob. It was one of those things that… you know… you try not to look at. The crack I mean. Maybe if you don’t pay attention to it, it won’t bother you, you’ll get used to it.
I swear there would be times that I KNOW it called to me… Psssst! I’m still heeeerrrre.
