WPF...July 3-6, 2008

I figure it’s a long weekend, so let’s go!

One of my brand new Tyco USA express Alco’s, the only R/W/B trains I have.

Rotor

My newest aquisition. An Athearn KCS covered hopper in the ‘Southern Belle’ paint scheme.

Nice patriotic start Rotor!![8D]

My only R/W/B/ unit is an Athearn SD45T-2 SSW 9389.I also have a R/W/B bay window caboose,SP#1776 to go with it.[oX)]

Jeffrey, the hopper is real nice looking. I need to get some covered hoppers. I own exactly… NONE!

Here’s what I’ve been working on the past couple nights. It’s the larger warehouse for my Dad’s layout. It’s going to be located behind the engine service facility, against the backdrop. It will hide a large hole in the backdrop that some tracks pass through.

In this next shot you can see my tiny workbench. But it gets the job done.

My daughter wanted to take a picture of me working on my models. She’s a pretty good photographer for 5yrs old. The block of wood I’m pushing up against is to square up the edges. I also stand it on the long side to use as a sanding block square. I sandwich some sandpaper between it and the table top. It works great and damn near free! Just below my mouth you can see a picture of the Hotel Vancouver I printed out from last weeks post. Just above it (behind my big head;) ) is picture of Reading terminal in Philly. That will probably be my next project.

Here’s all the pieces prior to assembly. You can see the kit bag in the upper center of this shot.

I’ll post more as I build it.

Since it our (USA) nations birthday I will show some of my Bicentennial equipment.

I have spent a good chunk of this week, at least my modelling time working on the miners house that was featured in a construction thread. http://cs.trains.com/forums/1/1475957/ShowPost.aspx#1475957 Here it is in its position on the layout. There is plenty of scenery work to do to blend it in properly.

There are also some out-buildings for the neighbors house that I built last week. A summer kitchen, smoke house and fire-pit on the left.

Have a wonderful 4th everyone!

Looks like another great weekend! A short stroll to the cinema, I see, Simon.

Checking my calendar, I guess I should post from my US layout. [;)]

Aiming for New England in winter with occasional snow. Please excuse the junk [and the overscale snowballs [:D] ]

Mike

SCL on the TCC

Simon, I have decided to order the $6.99 wood kit building (your 2nd from L) and give it a shot!

They all look great that you have there in that pic! [bow]

Happy birthday America from your northern neighbor!

(The last photo taken by the photographer! [:D] )

mmNice RS-3m![:D]

Love the Red White and Blue!!!

Here is a project I have been working on, This my first photo post so I hope it all comes out well.

Thanks G. The kit you ordered will be a perfect introduction. It is the basis of a modelling competition on another forum. http://www.kitforums.com/viewforum.php?f=22 if you follow that link you will see a dozen or more examples of the same kit where modellers have taken artistic licence to build the structure. The only rule was that you had to use parts form the kit. Extra wood etc had to be salvaged from the left overs of the kit. My little smoke house was made that way, even using the shipping envelope for the shingles. Anyway, there are some really neat ideas for this kit at that site. Good luck with it.

One of my old projects.

Good photos All !

Nice Hopper car Jeff

Love the winter photos Mike

Interesting Tunnel photo Bob

Like the miners house Simond

I’m jealous of all the RWB rolling stock [bow]

I added a sanding tower beside the coaling tower

and also added 2 fueling towers but still need a small pump house to pump the fuel from the tank car to the locos

My only RWB Loco: Click image to view full size.A Athearn SW-1000(I think). Sorry for the bad picture, this one was probably my first picture I took of my layout. My picture-taking has improved a whole bunch because of help of others. Happy 4th of July!

Just running trains here…

going really fast…

Enjoy!

Heres my Southern 40’ boxcar I just finished. I also added a black and white photo.

Sorry for the bad shots. The laptop has a better picture editing program than the desk top. Didn’t feel like turning it on [:-^]

Looks like another weekend of great pics on great projects.

Here’s an update on the Buttes–looks like it’s turning out to be an all-summer project. About 3/4 done and lots of work still to do.

This is a shot of Bassett’s, where a trail will begin leading up the Buttes to a future Forest Service lookout tower.

Here’s an overview of Sierra City, Bassett’s and the Buttes so far. The Buttes are a combination of Cripplebush rubber rocks and Sculptamold rock castings. “Cat Butte” is to the left of center. It’s the one with the jagged ‘ears’. It wasn’t planned, it was kind of a ‘mold’ accident, but I decided to keep it. [:P]
