I hope everyone is excited for the weekend. Kicking it off with some weekly updates of my layout progress. Lets let it rip, can’t wait to see everyone’s work!
Good early start. First up for me is some scenery work I’ve started - on The Loops
Next we catch a local with a GP38 working the team track at Carbo
And we’re waiting for a train along the mainline west of Logan

Larry, that’s awesome work. What a great scene you have going there - that’ll be a great addition to what already looks like a great layout.
Paling in comparison, here’s all I’ve gotten done this week. A couple of Tootsie Toy trucks from my childhood
A little craft and rattle can spray paint later
Boy, the camera sure is unfriendly to my unsteady hand with a paint brush! They look a LOT better using the three-foot rule…
It’s nice to be able to use my really old toys alongside my current ones. These trucks will have a place of honor (somewhere in the background and not prominent) on my layout.

Me doing something I’ve been putting off for a long time, redoing my way bills used for operating sessions. They had gotten terribly out of whack what with moving an industry here, putting in two or three new ones there, totally moving some from the east bound to the west bound trains. So, I glued two poster boards together, listed all ‘stations’ down the left side and all the cars across the top making a grid and reshuffling cars to better balance the situation. Could have done it on a spread sheet I guess but I like this better.

Great work to kick off the weekend! rugby camp starts tomorrow (and it’s at Furman University in Greenville), so no pics from me this week.
Yellowstone #3911 just out of the shop, creeping downgrade at Bullard’s Bar with a 20-car freight. She’s holding at 25smph (yes, really!). Still has her original 1964 Akane mechanism and open-frame motor. All I’ve done is replace the articulated tubing with NWSL universals.

Ah… The weekend! Time for my favorite thread. Great work everyone! DJ, I love the shots of your layout from the “shadows”. Tom White, it is soooooo good to see you back. I have missed seeing shots of your beautiful layout!
I think I have finally finished the interior of the Engine House… As they say, “Close Enough!”
A couple to show the sides of the interior:
I plan to do a photo shoot of it with a different lens before I put the roof on (half of the roof will be removable for viewing). These were all taken with my 17mm - 85mm lens on the Digital Rebel. I will be trying some using the 10mm - 22mm possibly tomorrow.

Tom, everytime I see that bridge of yours, I remember that when I first started, it was you and that bridge that encouraged me to try my canyon, and that I could build that bridge kit and modify it to look American West instread of Swiss Alps. Much has gone by since, but it is still the best memory I have about getting back into HO. Here is a new angle of my bride.
I also continue to try to paint a sunset scene. These are not easy for me. I have one more drying, but it may not be any better. Here is my favorite so far. The purpose was to highlight my favorite cities’ skylines and to border “Dayton’s Bluff” a famous railrod cliff near downtown St Paul.
