Yahoo Groups

GRR mag (this issue) in the casting feature article, mentions http://groups.yahoo.com/group/casting/ as a resource. I joined last week to learn more to apply to my 7/8 scale trains, but message shows no activity in 7 days and looks like something broke.

Just wondering if anyone else has been a Yahoo groups member and experienced any difficulties

FJ,

I subscribe to a few Yahoo groups and notice not much is going on. Perhaps due to the holiday/vacations this month?

My experience with Yahoo (overall) is that it can be flaky especially if it’s busy. I’d give it a day or so and try again.

Greetings,

When I first purchased this (my first) PC I subscribed to four different Yahoo groups all of which were connected with Amateur Radio. Maybe, in my inexperience, my settings were not as I would have liked them but after using one group I clicked on a link supposedly connected with lighthouses. (Many radio hams like to speak to special event stations which have been set up at lighthouses).

The link turned out to be a list of the most appalling paedophilia sites imaginable. I was horrified. I withdrew from all the Yahoo groups that I had subscribed to and received a communication from Yahoo saying they were sorry I was leaving them. I replied giving the reason and suggested they might tighten up their procedures or whatever. I never received a reply; consequently NOTHING on my computer is connected to Yahoo, I even remove their Toolbars (which often accompany Adobe and other reputable programmes.

I must say I haven’t missed Yahoo.

Rene, I am like you and found it can be flaky which several are.

Even when I helped out in a gov’t race. And it was flaky!

It is just to BS there! Fourms are the best I feel.

David - might need to get 7/8th board rolling with it or GR board going also.

Forum activity all over the internet is at a snail’s pace. There are many members here, so this place is kinda different. It’s still down even for here, though. Been like that a while. I’m a member of several yahoo MRR groups myself and they are on CPR.

Can’t imagine casting being seasonal, but model rr, yes!

Most scales being indoors hobbies will see more action in inclement weather, whereas we go out in the good summer weather and do most putering in the evenings or rainy days!

Indoor modellers are at the beach/lake/resort in free time this part of the year, and we’re busy with our trains; thus less forum action!

I belong to the 7/8th Guild through Yahoo and I get tons of e-mails every day. However, some days are more active than others. Today I’ve gotten about a dozen so far.
