BUT, curiously, that still yields the same size model (extremely small).

Look at this site, it says the other way. Either way, it’s tiny.
The layout is modeled on a scale of 1/13936 (that’s HOxN). A forty foot boxcar should be about .035" long at that scale. Scaling from the photo of the layout between someone’s fingers, THE CARS ARE ABOUT .035" LONG.

Yeah, but his brakewheels are .0003" too thick. And he calls himself a model railroader. Sheesh!
