I have Canadian Pacific and Canadian National boxcars …Some have yellow doors and some have red doors…Can anyone out there explain the significance of the colored doors and what time period they were actually used…Michael
Colored doors mean the cars are reserved for specific products - yellow doors mean the cars are intended for newsprint only. Can’t recall what red would be for.

Thanks for the info guys…I 'm glad I got your attention Bob as I believe you are a fellow Maritimer. The Red doors are on Canadian Pacific cars issued by Trains Canada last year. They have block lettering and are 40 footers. You can view them on their website or in the Walthers catalogue on page 247. Since Trains Canada issued them, I assumed they are authenitic and mean something. Any other takes from anyone on these red doors. Thanks
