Yet another wonderful auction site find...

I’ll let this one speak for itself…I’ll bet everyone here is going to jump right in and bid on this one!

Oh Boy!!! Thats what I have been looking for all my life. [B)] I like how the people are still inside. Looks like they are having a party.

So are you trying to say that a one penny opening bid is asking too much? Shouldn’t you be working on your layout instead of combing eBay trying to find auctions similar to the one you posted so you can ridicule the seller? I’m amazed at how many times these auctions are featured on this forum…what business is it of yours if he’s trying to sell that burned up hulk of a car? If the owner wants to sell it, that’s his business. If he finds a buyer for it, all the better…but why concern yourself with his business??? Rant off for now…[soapbox]

Don Z.

Actually, if I had an Ebay accout (and didn’t have to pay for shipping![(-D]) then I’d buy it! It would actually make a nice detail as a victom of a nasty wreck![2c]

So, is it any business of yours if someone’s hobby within a hobby is making fun of eBay sellers and the “treasures” they offer? [soapbox]

Andre

I don’t come to this forum to have to wade through useless postings of eBay threads. I come here to learn about the hobby and find new tricks or techniques to use in the construction of my layout. Unfortunately, that is getting harder to do lately…

Don Z.

You probably wouldn’t see a metal car burned up like that…

Ditto.

And people say I take myself too seriously. Sheesh. If there’s no place for humor in model railroading, then there’s no point in being involved with model railroading.

I prefer my coaches lightly browned. [xx(]

I like how the people on the opposite side of the coach are still politely chatting. [(-D]

Friendly place huh…[:-^]

What I find funny is that the folks who make comments about Ebay items are the same ones who get upset when their own work is critisized…

Feel free to mock Ebay items, but keep in mind that Karma will catch up to you. I prefer these forums be full of helpful how-tos and the like, not full of lets-laugh-at-the-guy-selling-on-Ebay threads.

Wow!! What a “weathering” job…Gota be a story here…Cox 47

The…um…er…air conditioning unit spontaneously exploded![swg]

I don’t usually bid with a member that has zero transactions, and those pics look like 2 different cars. I’ll have to ask the seller which one I will get. [:o)]

So…since the Title: “Yet another wonderful auction site find…” was not a clue to you that THIS thread was not of interest to you[:-^], and you chose to read it anyway, the rest of us, who find this kind of thread somewhat interesting, (for whatever reason), have to wade through your whiney reply[:-^] that has nothing to do with the topic or subject of the thread??? Is that any more or less fair to someone else?

It is clearly obvious from the title, and your comments, that this thread would be of no interest to you. So, Why click on the link to this thread and read it?, and then take the time for 2 replies? If you’re not interested, simply skip the thread.[:)][yeah]

Every member here has just as much right to post what they see fit, as you have to click, or not click, on a link to view that information. Personally, I don’t care who posts what.

If I need information, I search for it in the archives, and if I don’t find it, I post a thread asking for help. If I see a post that I think I can offer help to, I reply. If I see something interesting, I read it. I do not feel the need to reply to every post I read, but sometimes I chose to.

BTW, posting a complaint about another post in the original thread does nothing to alieviate the problem you seem to have with

Kettle…Pot…

Doesnt his voice count as well? If you are going to start a thread, then you have to be willing to recieve both sides of the coin…not only the positive ones.

David B

Frankly, guys, I’m going to bid on it. Actually, I’m hoping that I can find several other cars in the same condition, because I’m thinking seriously of duplicating the really HILARIOUS train wreck that appeared in that classic sci-fi stinker of a movie called THE SWARM. Now if I can just find a bunch of HO scale killer Honeybees that cause the wreck in the first place, I’ll video the whole thing.

But don’t worry, I’ll post it on YouTube so as not to interfere with the tenor of this forum, which seems lately to have deteriorated into finding new ways to slam each other into the ground.

Tom

yeeaaaahhh. Actually I have seen those nasty trainwreck shows and seen that car. It took the engine to explode in doing it, but if they plowed into a tank train, a tanker semi, etc. It is a decent train wreck piece. And if one can;t find matching cars, you can always wrangle up some heavyduty flats or 86’ semi haulers for a breakdown train on the return from the site

There is actually one place where you could see a car burned like that…the Brayton Fire Training School at Texas A&M University. They took delivery of an old Amtrak RS-3 and 3 or 4 old passenger cars. I believe they currently have them set up in a “ravine” for rescue and/or fire training.

I still wouldn’t give that penny for it, though. [:)]
