Hi GIZ,
Yesterday my wife and I head to YORK for the annual ritual of seeing and being with TOY TRAIN LOVERS enthusiasts of all walks of life.
We started off in the Brown Hall being it is the newest one there and meet with the GIZ from the CCT Magazine. Met and talked with BOB KELLER, heck of a nice guy. Also in the hall was a set up of the LIONEL Dealer layouts that Lionel is selling this year for a hefty price? You’re not suppose do take pics but I asked the guy and he did not have any problem with the pics so here are a few picks of the dealer layouts. Hope they come out?
All in all had a great time there saw lots of new things from the big 4 manufactureers.
ATLAS had there whole line up of new diesels there on a nice O gauge display.
MTH had the display of the NYC sky line along with the trains going in and out of the city. Also had the NFL and MLB trains running along with all their nice engines for 2006.
LIONEL had the ACELA train set rolling at eye level so you could really see whats going on. Along with their newer train sets on display. The NYC premiem set is nice but very long.
K-Line had a nice display of there working road system and really looked neat on their layout.
The one thing that stopped me in my tracks is the BURNS manufacturing of having two trains running on the same track. This is for the conventional runner but it worked real cool. There are different options one could buy where the train can stop at different inter
LAZ : [#ditto] What Chuck said ![:)][:)] We’ll all be watching at Christmass to see what your wife got you ! [:D] What an OTTS meet we could have there, maybe even at Allentown some year ! Thanks, John
Thanks for the report, Laz! Sounds like you definitely had a fine, productive, and relaxing time at the Mecca of toy trains. I haven’t been able to make the York meet for four years now, primarily due to job-related requirements, but am really hoping to change that situation in 2006, one way or another.
Enjoy that new 0-6-0 switcher! II trust that Santa will take good care of you a couple of months from now. I gotta get my hands on one of those K-Line Porters at some early date, but need to sell a few other items first.
Thanks LAZ. That was one of the nicest reports from YORK I have yet to read. And I must say, I hardly expected it with all the brew-ha-ha between the companies. You might think there’d be a GAG order for them to not speak.
Who knows… maybe there actually is too. But it was nice to read what you had to say, and in these “abnormal” train times, your summation makes things sound pretty “normal.” Nice change of pace.
In the past, everyone always anticipated seeing the latest developments from the train companies at YORK. These days, that they even showed up and were there is more than enough. And if everyone (at least on the surface) had a good time, sounds to me like that’s as much as anyone can expect.
And I’ve never met Bob Keller myself, but from emails and dealings on the forum here, it comes as no surprise that he’s a decent guy.
Nice York report Laz! Sounds & looks like you & your wife had a very nice time. Those new dealer displays look so nice. It is too bad they cost so much $$$$$$$$ [V] You’re better off to look up the old Track Plans and build a dealer display for yourself. Plus, you’ll save a ton of Money . Thanks Laz
KIETH the thing with those track layouts is that is all you get the engines and acessories are more. They give you everything on the top and the wiring but the trains and accessories are more. Go figure?
