How long and wide is your new layout? Though I model HO, the one thing that I really like enjoy about N scale is that you can run some really long freight trains on many track plans.
More questions: Are you modeling a time period or keeping it generalized? Is there a particular railroad that you’re modeling?
Hey my layout is 6 x 3 plenty of room for N scale. Im not modeling any time period exactly but i like the newer deisels so everything will probly fit in with that. Im making up my one railroad, somthing that goes through a prettey big mountain.

Well, well, well. A 6X3 n scale layout. Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, me! Well Ben I guess we have to show everyone what we can do with our mediocre sized layouts, I personally like to think big and not be limited by the size. Yes, Im still talking about my train layout. Another friendly word of advice, beware of Bachmann N products. They arent that good.
I’ve heard the exact opposite for Bachmann Spectrum series steam locos. I’m buying two of the Consolidations based on what I’ve read from people who’ve tried them.
Another word of advice, get a second opinion about nearly everything you read here. Opinions vary.

True, I have heard that the steam locos are better. I have some diesels, -840cs to be exact, that all fell apart. Never read much good about Bachmann products. I will change my advice to be cautious instead. As somebody new to the hobby, at least I assume Ben is, its good to know what runs the best or you can get discouraged fast.

Oh and ask any conductor (ask me… ha! if you can’t take a joke, your best to not work with me!) of a Railway line how much they joke between themselves- You’d be surprised, if were not doing serious work, were always pulling each other’s legs.
So lighten up, and don’t Crucify someone for a good joke. The relavence police should be fired, because they aren’t needed… don’t let them show up around here, because they will hear from me, in not such a nice way.
