Take a look at this. You might be able to buy a real F3
WOW!!! That would hurt the coffers?

At that cost, could you ever take it out and display it? Probably better displayed in a safe deposit box.
He who can afford that…I wonder what type of layout HE has![:)]
Well, well this month’s CTT Lionel box story is sure timely with this eBay deal topic. Man, the box must be worth 5 K alone.
Gee makes me wonder if I should have kept all of my trains in boxes without ever running them and just waited 50 years to sell them. Boy have I been a knucklehead!

Speaking of empty boxes. I sold the empty boxes on ebay before picture posting for the 2379 DR&W for $500.00
They are my dad’s locos and he didn’t want the boxes and I wanted new trains
Did you notice the original price on the box: $47.50 !?!
That’s an increase of $11,452.50. Whoa!
Worth every penny. And then some people complain about others buying Lionel engines from 2006 for $1,500.
I saw this auction and I believe it is the same guy who last month had a 1950 773 Scale Hud passenger set LN in the box for “buy it now” $20,500.
People who own/sell Lionel like that RARELY have a layout. Thats a true collector.
WOW…!!!.. beautiful set with boxs and all…Maybe we should all take up a collection and bid.If we win we could all share it…[:o)]
Beautiful set but if I had that kind of dough I’d buy a dozen or so new Command steamers.
i’m thinking about selling a kidney and buying this. any takers?
I would run it if I had that kind of dough.[yeah]

I can only imagine all the baby boomer trains still hibernating in Mom’s attic. Geez. Time to hit the estate sales! r0n :-/
How many miles/hours on that kidney? [;)]
I wonder what the chances are of any of US getting that type of return on today’s equipment. Any guesses?[?]
Hello
An update the engines are now $9500.00
beat me to the punch choo, I’d run the dog poop out of 'em. [:D]
That is nothing! Check out some prewar prices for difficult pieces in that condition. There was an ives set for around 20,000 awhile back. Don’t even want to know what a mint 700k would bring.
Ebay has dropped the prices of average condition trains, and skyrocketed above exc. units. Doesn’t bother me, i like the notorious (operator grade.)
