Young Guns of Steam ... And Happy Easter

First of all Happy Easter to all …
In reading the last May 06 Trains Mag on the Young Guns of Steam it reminded me of our May 04 3000 mile train visiting Vacation where we stopped at fort Steele Canada where we met a young lady steam engineer and an equally young man … steam fireman … see photos of their full size engines, etc and their website too … I never did find the card with their names on it …

Hey doc glad to see you on the forum, well in case you did not know this is Matt, your honarary conductor! Happy Easter to you as well! Look foreward to seeing you around more often. Check me out on the Garden Railways forum!

I would invite any other young guns to post here and tell about themselves

I guess I will start, maybe it will convince some others. Like Dave said above my name is Matt and I volunteer at the 15" gauge Orland Newville and Pacific Railroad in Orland, CA and got to run the beautfiul steam locomotive we had. Now we are only running a diesel, but I still love running that and get to haul the public. I am also helping a friend build a 7.5" gauge live steam railway, and I am out a Dave’s place playing trains all the time!

Any other young people help out with the big trains?

Matt …
As soon as the ground dries out a little we will play trains and you will run Little Bubba I promise.

The photo is of the same Challenger taken on Labor Day 2005 but I took this at Dunsmuir, CA … I was standing on a live track next to the hill … but had plenty of time and the freights always slow for the Dunismuir station … I think … [xx(] … [?] Oh … and after it went past me in Redding near the diesel horse bridge someone threw a $20 bill out one of the coach windows. [^]

Thanks Doc! I took some pics of 3985 when it was in Redding too. Judging from the pictures on your site, you were on the other side of the Eureka Way Bridge. I was at the Tehama Street crossing while it was stopped! We are only a 1000 feet away from eachother! Weird huh?
