This time, when I went to the help desk, I asked if they had any historical DOCUMENTS, when before, I asked for photos. The person said, “try the Special Collection.” I went upstairs to the next librarian and she guided me into a special room. Everything was under lock and key. We needed key A to actually get into the room, then we needed key B to get to the map section. I was rewarded with several historical, one printed in Chicago, one printed in Utah, and the third was a Rio Grande Western Prospectors map. They were from 1891, 1891, and 1995, respectively. I found that the Colorado Midland ran through Utah on the Chicago map. I copied the three maps and took them home. I then tried to confirm the three on the internet, but I found the Colorado Midland one was a messup. But on the same map, I found a tiny little RR, the Utah and Nevada Railway. So, I have found where my RR will be, starting at Stockton, the terminus of the U&N going south to another real town of St. John, and, rather than east to Ophir, my line goes west to the only fictional town of Irvine (hey, how can this be the Irvine Valley RR without Irvine?).
